silken winged exquisiteness

eyes that will consume

Fair(y) Tales

where soulfire burns,
blue screams of a butterfly
still cloud your vision.

Silken

428014_10150629325702605_628372417_n

these thoughts you wear, draped,
delicately, around your neck in silken waves
whisper misty tales of
white and purest, deepest red —
heartily

and in your words i find
wonders — as your beauty’s breath
fogs up the glass on coldest days &
shapes the roughened edge of pain
to watery pebbles

it is the mirror of the heart
that builds a bridge across the oceans &
dips its toes into this (long stagnant) pool
causing ripples,
echoing

           back          and              forth
back           and            forth

& in your presence i stay
forever cradled,
for your words are mine —
unspoken.

For my friend across the Seas

155157_1249532215337_7670135_n - Kopie

Siegen bore a poet with long dark wavy hair
a German lass with eyes deep and cavernous
and we met here ~
through our love of
p
o
e
t
r
y
we commented, shared a smile, encouraged
one another and her name is Miriam Euteneuer
and believe me,  there truly is no other
whom I have connected with
in writing words upon the page
our minds are like, we feel the same
and for one that’s young
my friend’s indeed a sage
she has taught me forms
to trust myself with what I feel and write
what words of thanks can I give
my praise is not enough
her humour is quite wicked
her poetry is sublime
she and I write together
whenever we have time
this is a portrait of the woman I’ve
grown to know and love, her kindness her
enthusiasm spurs me on each time
always supportive, never a harsh word
she is kind and loving, good of heart
and her writing inspires
a gift ~ an art
so Miriam I thank you for the joy
in words you bring, you make me feel
so special which makes my laugh and sing
I so wish you could visit me, come down
to Aussie Land, we’d share a wine or coffee
laugh, remise ~ just think how grand
you work caring for others in Physiotherapy
your soul and heart touched by Angels
for the love in you I see
so this is my portrait ~ be it as it may
I thank you for inspiring me, for helping
me along the way
may our words forever linger in those that
choose to read, I thank you most sincerely
for giving me ~  the strength I need

Love you Miri

This is a portrait of Miriam. This woman who I met on WordPress,  with who I have developed a great fondness for, a friendship, a love of not only words but of souls. She has encouraged, supported and given me strength to write and I thank her from the bottom of my heart. We have never met – I hope one day we shall.

This possibly doesn’t flow that well – it’s 2am …but I wanted to say these words.

Rainbow chips

images-10

is the rainbow multi-coloured
I see it in your fries
you say it’s golden crispy brown
I tut tut ~ you lie
the temptation to just grab one

don’t slap my hand ~ not nice
you know there will be chaos
if you go that way tonight
I must say there’s temptation

they do look rather good
look at me, as I reach across
they know that they are rainbows
they’re just misunderstood

Fi(ni)sh & Chips

as you dipped your fries
into my wounded pride
and pinned rainbows to
the ceiling mirror’s smoothness,
i found myself drowning in
unperturbed chaos,
resisting the temptation
to burst
your elusive bubble.

At Water’s Edge

1395029_10151794366302605_1387698706_n

be still and weave your world into the waves
lend whispered words to dreams your heart still craves

and you may find a wish upon the shore
that stirs the sands of time — forevermore

you shall not bow to sorrow’s ancient tune,
send silent prayers forth to the old moon

but cast off looming past’s forfeited pledge
and start anew, down by the water’s edge.

Mother Earth

1395029_10151794366302605_1387698706_n

five of us protected, against the ravages of modern time
a sixth who follows closely, stepping cautiously behind

hiding from the orange sun and blackened ash crept wind
the cool rivers that remained,  anointing pale and withering skin

afraid of the daylight, in night we roamed, sheltered we persevere
concealing peel and blistered burns from infected atmosphere

man thought too late,  the discharge of mushroom clouds that billowed
in the end we are what’s left, us six ~ the aftermath ~ the widowed

I’m not ready

1396525_10151794365552605_1320283446_n

silent at my door, shroud of death
there was no knock, you covet the way
I breathe, before you crumble, turn to ash
wait ~ for I’m not ready for you ~ yet

allure me with your charms, my resolve is
firm, weak of mind not of body, stand
noiseless, hands clasped in readiness
my life will not accompany yours

cry the ravens above, gnawing bones of age
the light is carried only, it has not called me
I’ll keep my breath, you don’t need me
so wait ~ I’m not ready for you ~ yet

Carved In Stone

1396525_10151794365552605_1320283446_n

the prophet grazed his tongue
on the stone walls of ancient tombs, speaking
in ripples, riddled –
while he yet walked among us

“blood shall kill no man”,
he once said, bound beneath
his righteous cape, stitched in ReD
with callused hands; eyes shifting

& generations
burnt his voice to ash,
turned blood to steel, sneering,
just to prove him wrong.
